Through its educational workshops, courses and events, WOMENA aims to enhance the MENA ecosystem by empowering and educating a new generation of angel investors and entrepreneurs. To date, over 300 investors and entrepreneurs have benefited from WOMENA’s workshops and courses.
Understanding the fundamentals of early stage deals are key to an effective investment strategy and increasing returns. WOMENA’s angel education courses provide first-time investors with with the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to make their first investment. Each module uses interactive presentations, real-world case studies, deal simulations and veteran investors as guest speakers to enable students to understand the complex world of early stage finance and begin building their angel investment portfolios.
As an investment group, the WOMENA team regularly evaluates deals, with over 600 assessed last year. We also regularly coach teams of entrepreneurs pitching to our investors for funding. Our entrepreneur education uses our extensive knowledge of the MENA investment space to prepare entrepreneurs and SME owners to identify, approach, pitch to and negotiate with investors and funding entities in order to receive investments in their businesses.
WOMENA also supports the local entrepreneurial ecosystem by hosting regular workshops for entrepreneurs, utilizing its extensive networks to provide industry leaders as speakers on business-building topics.
WOMENA believes that investing in the woman investor empowers both women and the young entrepreneurs that they invest in. Adding new female investors to the ecosystem provides new funding avenues and mentorship opportunities for startups, increases diversity in the startup ecosystem, and increases employment.
